The 2nd Phase of our Fundraising Campaign

Our Objective:  Raise sufficient funds in the next three years to complete the ground-breaking ceremony(June 2012), site grading(July 2012), and build the Agape Center, the Arbor and the Parking Lot, with a scheduled occupancy date of October 26, 2013.

Church Design Approved 

St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church took a major step closer to building a new church in Camarillo with the city planning commission’s recent unanimous approval of the church’s architectural design.

The Rev. Gary Kyriacou, head of St. Demetrios, said the church intends to break ground 12 to 18 months on the four-acre property near Santa Rosa and Woodcreek roads. The church bought the $2- million property in 2007 after three years of fundraising by its members Read more..

The story is told of a mon- astery in Greece, perched high on a 3,000 foot cliff and accessible only by a terrifying ride in a swaying basket. The basket is pulledwith a single rope by several strong men, perspiring under the strain of the fully loaded basket. One American tourist who visited the site got nervous halfway up the cliff when he noticed that the rope was old and frayed. Hoping to relieve his fear he asked, "How often do you change the rope?"
